ISO/PAS 45007 is an international specification that provides guidance on identifying and managing occupational health and safety risks arising from climate change and climate action. The specification has been developed as a supplement to the occupational health and safety management standard ISO 45001, but can be used by any organisation wishing to work systematically and proactively with the impact of climate on occupational health and safety.
ISO/PAS 45007 provides concrete examples of where and how climate-related risks and hazards arise – both as a result of climate change itself and as a result of adaptation and mitigation measures – and sets out measures for preventing and reducing risks. At the same time, the specification provides a systematic framework for how organisations can work in a structured way with climate-related occupational health and safety risks as an integrated part of their occupational health and safety management.
The specification also provides guidance on what organisations should be aware of in order to increase awareness of climate-related occupational health and safety risks, build competencies, protect particularly vulnerable workers, ensure preparedness and continuity, and plan for and respond to climate-related incidents and emergencies.
